A friend has tried two times to upload a file to me, and twice HFS log shows upload fully completed. i.e....
Fully uploaded -  438.43 MB @ 116 KB/s
BUT there is no sign of the file. A previous test upload worked. The upload folder has full permissions as far as I am aware, for user to upload.
ideas please?

Refresh the page? :P
Maybe your anti-virus software scanned and removed it?
Does it only happen to that particular file or others aswell?

Im not sure but I think that if you manually call ~upload when upload is disabled for the folder, the file will still fully upload but hfs will just delete it when it is done.

Thanks for the help. File is not being deleted by anti-virus software.
By the way, should there be an upload button or dialogue of any description on the upload page, or is it just drag and drop?
Anyone logging on to my HFS, just see two folders, Upload and Download.

not exactly. the file is transfered, but never saved (so, no need for deletion). and it won't say "fully uploaded" at the end.

1. while it is uploading, open the folder in windows, and see if the file is in there. it should be there, with the size increasing.
2. what if he uploads a different file?
3. what if you upload a file yourself in localhost?

Thanks for the upload button information. Hadn't noticed it before, probably because I was more interested in the download funtion being available to my users. :-)

Upload works in local mode. So if the remote upload failed before completion, which could be why the files are missing,  why did the log show upload completed.?

regards,

Further information...
My friend has just uploaded a file. Looking in the upload folder, as the file was uploading, there was nothing, no file with increasing size.
When the upload finished, there was no file.

Here is the log

07:43:19  Requested GET /Uploads/
07:43:20  Requested GET /~style.menu.css
07:43:24  Requested GET /Uploads/~upload
07:43:30  Uploading ????4 ??.rmvb
07:50:03  Requested GET /~style.css
08:42:28  Fully uploaded -  395.55 MB @ 117 KB/s
08:42:28  Requested POST /Uploads/

Notice that the filename contains ???? where Chinese filename characters are not displayed. I have asked for an upload with the filename in English, but remote uploader hasn't done that yet. Hopefully they will, and we can see if it makes any difference. Maybe if I install the Chinese character set, the  file might eventually get saved. Could be a red herring, but who knows? By the way, this has occured with 150 and 160beta versions of HFS.

Aha :-)  Now my remote user has changed to an ENGLISH filename, I can see the file being uploaded in the Upload folder.
Time will tell :-) :-)
regards, a happier person.

I'm happy we found the problem.
HFS is no 100% unicode compliant.
This is one of the cases it doesn't handle.
I'll try to detect such case and warn the user about the problem.
Thank you for reporting.

I think current beta fixed this problem.
If anyone able to confirm... or deny...

I have exactly the same problem with different uploaders and different files. Upload finishes, but there is no file.
Not sure about special characters in file name - i'll check this later.

Ok, but pay attention that i said "beta", that is version 2.3
If you are using the official version 2.2b, you won't find the fix i'm talking about.
