The 'Let Download' feature doesn't work right for 'Virtual Folders' when 'List Protected Items Only for Allowed Users' is enabled.  No problem with Real Folders.

Let download doesn't apply recursively.
You have to specify it for every item.
Select the files, and the disable "let download".

You think it is not clear? I do too, that's what i discussed in this thread :)

Use this scenerio:

1.  folder type = virtual
2.  list protected items only for allowed users = enabled
3.  problem =  I want people to be able to browse all of the files included in the folder *but* I don't want those files to be downloadable.  How can that be accomplished?

Select the files, and the disable "let download".

That doesn't solve the problem.  By disabling "let download" for selected files all that it does is hide the file(s) from the file list.  All the selected files with "let download" disabled should still be browseable but not downloadable.

Also, if you disable "List protected items only for allowed users" and you select the files within a virtual folder then disable "let download" like you suggest, the file is still downloadable when it shouldn't be.

No, it is not clear.  I'm sure you can reproduce everything I have said in this thread and before on this topic.  I still maintain this is a BUG.

you can't, because of that "list" option you enabled.
you try to do exactly what the option forbid.

you mean: disabling "let download" is not protecting.
well, it is arguable, and we can discuss it.
anyway current version of HFS consider it to be protecting.
so, this is the expected behaviour, not a bug. (maybe a design bug?)

no, it is not. i tried yesterday, and tried today with more files. it just tell "Unallowed - This resource is not accessible.". maybe you have a cache problem?

you try to do exactly what the option forbid.

Then why does it work correctly, with the "list" option enabled,  for Real Folders?

Disabling "let download" is protecting but browsing that file isn't allowed with the "list" option enabled.  That's why I asked you in the very beginning, a few days ago in the thread you deleted, if that was the expected behavior for virtual folders.  Today you answered and said it is the expected behavior.  I guess I will be switching some virtual folders over to real folders.   That "list" option is a very important feature IMHO.

That was a cache problem.  Sorry.

i didn't pay attention to the fact it is working differently for real and virtual.
i will investigate further.

i analyzed the thing, and decided that "let download" has no meaning for virtual folders, and won't be available since build #061.
you don't download a folder, you browse it, and for browsing there is already "let browse".

for real folders it is different, because you can't click on files within the folder, so i leave the opportunity to set the option on the folder, so that files inherited the option.

i updated the wiki so this is documented:
