Hello Rejetto,

My HFS keeps freezing and crashing after a while, so the site can no longer be reached after some time, but i don't know why...

are there some known points which can cause such crashes ?

1) ensure you are using the last version (build #067).

2) then try posting here the error message coming out. to copy the message, most times, you can use CTRL+C.

3) do you use some special network software, like sniffer, speed limiter, etc?

Hello Rejetto,

No, I am using this wonderful program for over a year now, but as it gets busier on my network the line is suddenly gone after some time. I don't get an error message as shown in the processQ bugs.

the only way to start up de server is to reboot the pc.

i can't find the reason of crashing...

Nothing at all.....

i just see in the log that it has been a while when the last user was online.
when i try to reach the site (to check) it appears to be offline.

the only way to get it online again is to reboot the pc.

there are no error messages....
i use the last version

and i don't use any network software like you mentioned, or something else.

You seem to have a problem that has never been reported before.  May I suggest uninstall then re-install HFS again.  Even re-create your VFS.  Maybe something got corrupt somewhere.

I tried....

Cut it be possible that it can be caused by "downthemall" from Firefox ?

As i think back, i have been giving advice lately of using this add-on in firefox to download complete pages with files.
And now i found ( with my right mouse button) the full log and still got no errormessages when HFS stopped.
But each time it stopped, someone was using "Downthemall" to get his files.

From what you are saying it sounds like that firefox plugin is causing the problem.  It could be buggy.  Contact the plugin's author.  Many people use different download managers with HFS with no problems.  I don't think your's is a HFS problem.  Get your users to try different download managers and see if that solves your problem.  Also you can try...  in HFS go to menu -> limits -> and adjust the number of connections and downloads in the different options you see there.  Maybe that will help.

well, if HFS freezes for an application not running on the same computer (a client, malicious or not), it is actually an HFS problem.

I Guess...

Its like its asking for connection constantly without showing it.
a few minutes ago, the screen went blanc, when someone stopped a download with DtA and after a hard kill with his taskmanager, my server became visible again.

I'm not complaining, as i love your work and this Server....

i've set the downloadlimit to 1 download per ip-adress at the same time and a limit of 20 connections total at once.
The clients have set there DtA also to 1 connection and 1 piece per download, so it gets its files 1by1  with 1 open connection.

but still it keeps stopping after a while.

So it freezes in upper situation, and it stoppes with something else DtA is doing.

and as i tagged all Log-boxes in the quickmenu of my rightmouse button, i should see all logmessages.
but there is really no errormessage, as you could see in the logs i sent to you by email.

i hope you have an idea what the problem is now..

Hello Rejetto,

I made a clean install of my system.
Since then HFS has run perfectly again.

Maybe there was somthing broken somewhere in the register....

Anyway, everything works like it should again.

Thank's for your input an ofcours that from Maverik as well !

Sorry,

But this is what happened, i think:

I use 2 nic's in my pc, and had tried in the past a program called "nic express " to combine both nic's toone IP-adres.

As i could'nt get it to work properly i removed it again.

Since then the troubles started...., i remember now.

Last week I did another try to get it work, but then my pc started to reboot automatically, so i removed it again, with result that all of my internet kept working, exept HFS, which i could not get working again at all.
Somehow it stayed unreachable from the internet, probably caused by some register changes from Nic Express
Therefore i made a new install, and blamed " nic express " in combination with my lack of knowledge of that program.
