Title: 2 bugs on uploading
Post by: day on November 25, 2007, 07:02:42 AM
bug #1

the original filename is 測試用.txt
but what it shows on upload-results page is ե.txt

I think this bug have been existing for a while but I have just found it out.

bug #2

when uploading a file,
sometimes it freezes at 99%,
but as you can see in the screenshot,
HFS has already recieved the whole file.

So when this happens,
for IE7
after a while (at least 1 minute) the page becomes "Unable to show the page",
also the file is NOT uploaded onto the disk eventually.
for Firefox
it just freezes at upload page and the upload process stays at 99%

This happens on both IE7 & Firefox,
I have also tried different templates.
Therefore i think this is a bug of HFS.

Actually I have met this bug before when i tried to upload something on my friend's HFS site (i think he used the stable version),
and now i can reproduce this bug on my own HFS.
I think this only happens when the file is small in size (100 kb or below?).

is anyone able to reproduce this bug using the default template?
from last tests it seems that it never happens with the default one.

Since i´ve updatet to Build 160 i don´t have the bug with freezing after an upload of very small files. I use the default template. I get this error too in build 14x

Thats weird, i am able to reproduce this bug using Terayon. But out of the 80 attempts using the default template, 0 failed.

Because your main language can contain 'special' characters, have you tested accessing folders that only contain characters ranging from A to Z? If you can indeed access that folder, then it might be related to an encoding / characterset problem.

Could you also check if it is not related to the browser? By ppl using XP, i always assume they are using Internet Explorer 6 and ppl using vista, its IE7. Big difference (altho they both suck).

If none of these things are true, then i think its not 'the'

Certainly names of folders contain only A-Z and digital.. Forgive, but I skilled enough person... I the system administrator, also know about possible problems with codings and other... Here I think two variants, or a problem in HFS or a problem in the version windows (is more exact in the concrete distribution kit) but i am using two distribution kit's of WinXP...this problem was on any of them. Yes, browsers tried different! IE7, Firefox. Opera, Avant (ie7 engine), there is no difference.

Wait for new variants of the decision of a problem!

Thanks that have responded!

@G.E.

M$ distributed IE7 as a critical update, so I guess you can't assume IE6 for XP anymore. But yes, they both suck.

IE6 seems to be the most widespread, still

There are still many people using Win98, WinME, or Win2000, including me. Thus IE6 is widespread, indeed.
