HFS bug.....maybe...maybe not ?

This is more of a tip than a bug report, but I'll post it here, not knowing
where would be better.
I run two hfs. One in use, one to try new versions, develop tpl, etc.
I found that one would display text files in browser properly, the other would
ask Open, Save, etc. Same version of hfs, same text file, on same computer.
Both had MIME types and "Open Directly In Browser" set the same.
When I selected "Open" the browser displayed the text as continious
end to end sentences, no formating.
While this in itself was no big thing, it was puzzling. The only variables
between the two, were different tpl (tpl head, style, etc same), different
folder configuration, and on different drives.
I checked/changed everything (tpl, etc) I could think of, with no luck.
The "fix" was to clear the vfs and saved options and with hfs "empty"
add the files/folders again. I put it back exactly as it had been before,
but now text files display properly in browser. Go figure ?
Now I wonder if this might help with some odd template display
problems that one may have and another does not?
 Hope this may help someone.

open directly in browser is just a "suggestion" for the browser.
so, something may happen that make the browser act differently, having nothing to do with HFS. it's not the first time i see the browser act differently about this after a restart of the browser.
