Title: mirror for hfs
Post by: rejetto on January 28, 2007, 08:12:02 PM
i'm searching for few webspaces where to put HFS.

requirements:
- good speed (50KB/s minimum)
- a dedicated folder, named "hfs" or similar, with write permissions (755 should be the best)
- disk space: it will never take more than 2MB
- bandwidth: 3GB/month or more
- PHP 4 or 5

instructions:
- create a folder named "hfs"
- set permissions to 755 (you may skip this step, the script will try to do it automatically, but it may fail)
- put the attached file in the folder
- post here the URL to that folder
- i will reply myself back here to confirm you the mirror has been added

check if it is working:
- access your mirror with your browser http://myserver/hfs/synchfs.php
- you should see a message like you can't call this script yourself, just report the URL to rejetto
- if you see "internal error", ensure permissions are 755 for the folder, and not 777

notes:
- you will have to care about nothing, the system will work by itself
- the HFS website will load-balance the downloads redirecting them to a different server each time
- every mirror is checked every minute or so, to guarantee the server is ON and serving the right version

Maybe i did something wrong.. but the file says: 'bad HEAD'

Direct link to it, http://s559149c2.adsl.wanadoo.nl:9000/hfs/synchfs.php (http://s559149c2.adsl.wanadoo.nl:9000/hfs/synchfs.php)

Post by: rejetto on January 29, 2007, 08:26:34 PM
the bad HEAD is ok because you can't call the script yourself.
the problem is another: you have a very old version of php, it should be at least 4.3
the solution is that you upgrade or i change the script

nope, there is another problem :(
the hfs.exe downloaded on your space is corrupted.
since it works everywhere else, i think it is a bug in your php version.

the kazaaforum is giving a "bad head" error. strange, don't know why, but i have no time to investigate right now.
but...hey, we have 4 mirrors working at the moment, it is enough to assure good speed and reliability :)

I just "finally" downloaded the new version of hfs from http://www.tgeri.hu/hfs/.  Mirrors are good but shouldn't there be some kind of minimum speed limit.  It took quite sometime to get that 500k file from this mirror.  The download speed was equivalent to a 33.6 k dialup modem and the transfer kept stopping and I had to keep restarting.
Title: Re: mirror for hfs
Post by: rejetto on March 02, 2007, 11:37:04 PM
i asked for a speed minimum, but forgot to test.
30k/s should be the very minimum.
Title: Re: mirror for hfs
Post by: TGeRi on March 06, 2007, 10:56:42 PM
my connection should be 10mbit as this is a server of an ISP. If you say it is slower than i will get in touch with the provider. I can only test it form Hungary, maybe they give me small international width. I will ask.

10mbit would be your download speed.  What is your upload speed?

The speed when downloading that file from your mirror was 3.5 k/s.  Like a 33.6k dialup modem.  Maybe there was something wrong with your connection the day I downloaded the file but it was definitely slow.
Title: Re: mirror for hfs
Post by: HosterMost on March 07, 2007, 10:23:15 AM
just wanted to say my download speed was also 7kb/sec or less I just xld to test for feedback ;)
Title: Re: mirror for hfs
Post by: rejetto on March 22, 2007, 11:53:06 PM
i measured the speed (in italy) of every running mirror, in KB/s

tgeri 20
melauto 129
fast-ip 129
wptg 65
omega 25

the faster two are italians, no wonder.
can someone make the test in another country? better if outside europe.

Post by: SCORPiON on March 30, 2007, 11:37:40 PM
@rejetto: badly i must say, that free.fr are not the fastest atm. seems, that they have limited the global bandwidth.
so i suggest, that you kick the omega.alba mirror & set in http://free.pages.at/moon-star/hfs/ :)

EDIT: i should go sleeping ... forgot the directory  :-\ :-\
sorry  :-X

Rejetto, I just saw your post that my mirror was up yesterday and by then I just figured everyone else had theirs going, and deleted the php file, etc.. should I put it back up?  I have no idea why it would just start working; I talked to my host and he said nothing has changed.

Edit: This raises the question, what kind of amazingly awesome isp do you have man, comcast would never do that...

What do they use in austrailia (sp)

Im with one of the better isp's in australia but believe me most of them suck in terms of pricing and customer service. Just ask TSG, the selection we have in Australia is very poor.

Its Internode (http://internode.on.net) there is a link to the mirror in my first post. I dont know what the up/down is but it would have atleast a 100mbit connection because its in their data center.

I see foggy wants sum un-metered HFS BETA  ;) I spose every byte counts. Here in Australia we have counted internet usage, I personally have 15gb foggy has like 20gb i think... I managed to get about 20gb out of my 15... meh... But ye some ISP's offer un-metered open source content, our worst ISP, Telstra Bigpond (dominant isp, the phone side of Telstra owns the lines) also hosts free open source material un-metered for their customers. It might not hurt to host on these servers. Although I don't see why rejetto needs anymore mirrors lol

Quote
requirements:
- bandwidth: 1GB/month or more

Its safe to say you need atleast 3GB/month

Its the 12th of november, and hfs has already been downloaded 12.175 times, consuming 1.138.612KB (1,09GB) Bandwidth from rawr-designs.com alone.

multiply that by 7 mirrors and * 2.5 to fill the month, brings you to a total of 19,1GB/month with 213.000 downloads per month.

nice!

Hello again.

Transferred site to new host today, cannot be bothered with transferring the files over, be easier for me to reupload what I have so I've recreated the /hfs folder for you.

Currently updating nameservers but most US routers resolve to new IP now. I'm in Australia so still resolving old one for me.

Please add the HFS.exe file again to the folder. You've made it so that guests cannot post links anymore but I've kept the same folder link for HFS. Find it in the other post for KhellMirror.

Hi

I have now placed a simple to use upload system on my mirror that your users can use to upload themes etc for your system.  It is not secured, though I am thinking it would be a good idea to restrict its usage to members within this forum only, however feel free to give it a try, and if you want to use it, then its their.

http://spottedhaggis.com/hfs/upload

This is a test run, any abuse and its off.

As far as I am aware I am already a mirror, you confirmed this some time back and I can see on my host in the hfs folder that the software is their for download.

I am simply offering more space and the ability for your users to upload themes for others to download.

If you would rather have it secured that can be arranged and you can have control of it, I am simply trying to offer something for nothing :-) if you dont want it then I can remove it, its not a big deal.  I have 1tb of hosting space, thought I could spare a little ;-)

sorry, but didn't remember that in another folder you already offered a mirror, and just quickly looked through that folder.
here it is just slightly off topic, the other topic where you posted is more related, i guess.
Title: Re: mirror for hfs

lol.

Not a problem.  Do you want to make use of the upload facility.  If you do Ill make some modifications, include your site design in the general layout, so to all intents and purposes its your site if you want, else I will simply modify it as my mirror advertising your site as the main site.

str0 must work, its my own server, using apache and PHP 5 , works without Problems on other PHP scripts , il try what i can to fix this , shouldnt be too hard to find the Problem ;)

please check the  first post of this topic (http://www.rejetto.com/forum/index.php?topic=4166.0), because i posted a new version of the script, and you are invited to put this new one.
this new version is auto-updating, so this may be the last time you need to do it.

the file to host is attached to the post.
when you are done, you have to post the URL to it.
if any of the steps is not clear, tell me which one.

Title: How to set a speed limit for upload?
Post by: zeball on September 09, 2010, 10:05:40 AM
Hello guys,

I tested your HFS HTTP File Server and loved it. I wonder if it is possible to set a speed limit on upload?

Compliments,
Valter

Create a "google account" post you free 15 GB of data on the drive in separate folder, share the files "public to the web.. free file space and web hosting....

i'm searching for few webspaces where to put HFS.

requirements:

Your software is reportedly virus.
Good luck :)

Read the type of virus: a variant of Win32/Server-Web.HFS.A

Pure stupidness of these "security software".
There's no virus.
Anyway, feel free to remove it if it is causing you any problem.

No problem for me, I use HFS, but it seemed to me amusing. :)
Sorry for my English.

the antivirus claims it to be a virus as it offers http web access. That is why it gets flagged... Its a "false" positive read.. meaning that the file is safe if you turst the publisher.

http://blog.nirsoft.net/2009/05/17/antivirus-companies-cause-a-big-headache-to-small-developers/

report it to your antivirus Program through support, and/or add it to a whitelist!...
