Ok so I created a new network in hamachi - went to IP address in HFS which picked up my hamachi address so put that as default  C&P the new HFS address into my browser and it took me to my files page.

This was done on my computer alone ,  so I don’t know if it works when others log onto my server  - is this basically just Url redirection or will it work as a direct secure communication with my server even though the recipient/s doesn’t have hamachi?

Hamachi requires another Hamachi client in order for the traffic to be encrypted. If someone uses another address other than your 5.*.*.* address to reach HFS it is not encrypted by Hamachi.

I use HFS Hamachi together, they work great for a private network - file system
