I have an strange problem, i can download JPG, TXT, AVI, but i cant download a XLS, when i click the download button to select to where I want to download, that window closes. With the other files i try i dont have problems. I have nothing installed there, clean windows98+hfs.
Any idea what can be the problem?

EDIT: i look at the status in hfs and it says:
10:33:28 a.m. someone@200.*.*.*:1472 Fully downloaded - 21,00 KB @ 16 KB/s - /SAN MIGUEL/LISTADOS RESUMEN/LRS0207.xls

Does it happen with all XLS files ? or just the one ?
I've had this happen with 1 specific PDF file but other PDF's
download OK. I think others have had this happen also.
I too am on Win 98.
I don't know if its a O.S. problem or hfs bug.

Those are small files and will be transfered very quickly.  Maybe the reason why you weren't asked where to save the file was because you already set a default download location in your browser settings.  Check that out as you might find that excel file there or do a system wide search for *.xls files.  If for some reason you are definitely having problems downloading xls files, maybe zip them up first.

I search, the file is not in my PC, if I click "open" in IE the file wont open. I check and i can download it with firefox, but with IE, when I click "save" a download dialog open and closes in less than 500ms and nothing happends.
thanks again

i think it's clear enough: it's an IE bug. not first. not last.
