Can't access locally; external OK

I am running under wine on Ubuntu Feisty x64.  All seems to work
fairly well but for one oddity that baffles me.  I can access
externally to http://my.no-ip.info:48080 just fine, but I can't
access from the host machine.

I can see the port is listening via netstat.

I can telnet to port 48080.

When I use a browser (Firefox or Konqueror), it times out, trying:
http://localhost:48080
http://127.0.0.1:48080
http://192.168.0.33:48080   (my local IP)
http://my.no-ip.info:48080
http://76.121.21.123:48080  (my externl IP)

Nothing works.

Any ideas why?

Does the log in hfs say anything when you try to connect?

Edit: I've never tried hfs on Linux so I cant be of much help.

HFS runs fine in Ubunty Gutsy Gibbon (7.10, i386) under wine.

Local access with localhost, 127.0..., 192.168.. works without problems.

No idea what happens in your system.
¿perhaps you have blacklisted yourself as malignous site on your host?

My problem goes deeper than I realized.  I just tried downloading a file.  It doesn't work.  It downloads either 11k or 22k, then after a minute or so ends with no error indication on either end.  It simply does not download files.  I can browse all I want though.

Since I don't use Windows much I guess I won't be using this program.  I hope you port it to Linux someday.  It seems nice.

Your problem may be wine in 64 bit version of ubuntu. HFS is compiled to run on 32 bit environment. As there are two ubuntu builds (i386 and AMD64), in order to support 32bit applications better, you should use the i386 distribution (works on all AMD and Intel 64 bit processors), as stated on the ubuntu homepage.

You could also try to create a wine-32bit environment on your 64 bit distribution. Look at the official wine wiki at http://wiki.winehq.org/WineOn64bit about details how to do it.

Well I don't want to downgrade to 32-bit Linux just for HFS.

Oddly, I did not fine wine in the packages.  The wine that I am using got installed along with Picasa, and it works fine for Picasa.  I suppose I could read up on wine and see if it has some configuration for the network environment.  But what I did last night was install thttpd (a simple HTTP server) and it seems to do a good enough job of serving my files. 

I still think HFS is a fine app for Windows, but Linux already has a number of solutions that work.

I run HFS through Wine on Ubuntu AMD 64bit sometimes, it runs fine? Unless I am running a 32bit version of wine, i can't be bothered rebooting to check.
