Groups are coming very soon: in 2.3 beta - build #205 (will be published these days).

In the while i'm documenting the feature at www.rejetto.com/wiki/index.php/User_groups

It's NOT complete, but comments are welcome.

Looks complicated to me. Perhaps it would be easy to make an error
on who has access to what?
Will we be able to turn this off?

Are you talking about Access Levels?  Which users are in these specific levels and what protected resources can be accessed by these users for their specific access level?

Example:

Access Level 1 (Group 1)
protected resources - music, games
users - bob

Access Level 2 (Group 2)
protected resources - music, games, applications
users - mike, bob

Access Level 3 (Group 3)
protected resources - music, games, movies, applications
users - joe, bob, mike

Great function thanks Rejetto.
I'm eager to try that out having set different "workgroup interest" under HFS.

sort sort of endless loop wouldn't happen if you linked group 1 with group 2 and gorup 2 with group 1?

i doubt you will make any error,
anyway there's no need to turn it off: if you don't use the "linked" field, it won't affect your HFS in any way.

HFS handles this case. you will just get group 1 and 2 permissions.

Access Level 1 (Group 1)
protected resources - music, games
users - bob

Access Level 2 (Group 2)
protected resources - music, games, applications
users - mike, bob

Access Level 3 (Group 3)
protected resources - music, games, movies, applications
users - joe, bob, mike

How to get this scenario implemented, step-by-step:
0. i guess you already have accounts joe, bob and mike
1. create 3 accounts: level1/2/3
2. protect them by assigning an impossible password
3. in account level2: link level1
4. in account level3: link level2
5. restrict music,games to level1
6. restrict applications to level2
7. restrict movies to level3
8. in account bob: link level1
9. in account mike: link level2
10. in account joe: link level3

I'm creating a "group" checkbox, so that you tell HFS you mean to use that account as a group.
This way
1. you won't need to enter an impossible password, HFS will prevent anyone from loggin in with the group name
2. i can create some GUI facilities for groups only

If there is going to be a macro to change the users pass a macro to change which group a user is linked to would also be very useful.
