using HFS for netbooting Ubuntu
HFS begins to respond TCP packets with wrong checksum ( 0000 )

see the wireshark log attached
look for --   Bad Checksum] -- in the txt file or load the .cap in wireshark.

welcome patpat!

i had a look at the txt, and saw the checksum error is at an IP level. (not even at TCP)
i never mess at that level. i guess it's always handled by the OS.
what comes to mind is that the system has a problem in his TCP/IP stack. (a bug to be patched)

by the way, are you running HFS under windows or linux?

I'm using HFS on an up to date Vista ....

you should try with another web server, like this
http://www.ritlabs.com/en/products/tinyweb/
and see if the problem persists
