HFS do not work, other webservers do

I tried HFS and the selftest passed ok.
I can access the server from my local network, but not from outside.
The same setup works fine if I use the Easy Filesharing Webserver, i.e.
port forwarding etc. seems to be ok.

What I see is requests on high portnumbers when I try to use HFS.
These high portnumbers might be open on my local network, but not
anywhere else.
Any way to make HFS stick to port 80 ?

Additional information : If I limit the number of connections to 1,
hfs creates a lot of processes on high portnumbers, just waiting for timeouts.

So, limiting the connections was not a good idea.

You have HFS set to port 80?
You have router port forward to 80 to your HFS computers STATIC IP (192.168.1.xx)?
You are sure nothing else is using port 80?
You have a static external (WAN) IP address ?(or no.ip, etc)?
Menu > Accept connections on > Any address is checked?
A user cannot connect from a remote location? (not just using external ip from inside your LAN)
Are you sure you ISP allows use of port 80? Some do not.

Lately self test has been working correctly, I think.
At the moment thats all I can think of to check.

the self test is an internet server testing you.
so stating you can't be accessed outside your LAN is necessarily wrong.
you are probably trying the wrong way. You can trust a successful self-test.

you can click the port button and enter 80.
ensure the self test is going good on this port anyway.

processes? maybe you are using the wrong word.
HFS is actually replying with an error to all exceeding clients.
Only limit supporting sudden disconnection is the banning.

What is the difference between HFS and for example EFS in a specific situation  ?

Both servers work ( same port forwarding, etc. ), but I  cannot connect to HFS if I try
to access the server from the intranet at work.
I does work from other locations.

There must be something special with that locations  internet access, but I have no idea what to look for.

Never heard of EFS till now?  So...no clue. However, both being webservers
some basic functionalities have to be the same.
Are you trying to connect to HFS on a port other than 80 from work?
Some enterprise networks block use of ports in address.
Mine does, wont allow the :8080, or even :80, etc on the end of the address.
I assume you have both servers set to and forwarded to different ports
(if you are running both at once)?

This is what I see in the HFS log window :

The actual port number is varying.
I understand that it will not work with these portnumbers, since they are blocked.
But where do they come from ?
When I use EFS ( the Easy Filesharing Web Server ) I have no problems.

I do not know why, but I was using 2.3beta when I had these problems.
I am now using 2.2f and everything is fine.
Looks like the betaversion comes with Liberkey.

Liberkey ?
I down load HFS from the beta topic here on the forum.
What your seeing on the port numbers in the HFS window may be
normal. I think mine is similar.
If 2.2f works then 2.3 should work as well, and 2.3 has far more features.
I've made several points in previous posts and got no info back from you,
not much more I can do.

Liberkey is a nice collection of portable apps, HFS is part of it.

Not much more info I can give you with respect to my setup.
HFS 2.2f works without problems, 2.3 beta does not.
The setup and the usage is the same for both.
As I said, the problem seems to be related to the intranet at work; both versions work fine from other locations.

The difference between work and other locations which I do know about is the port handling, there might be more.

1. are you testing the 2 servers on the same port?
2. don't mind the "high ports" you see in the logs. It's not related to the port you use to set for accepting connections and it's not a problem.
3. i don't know what liberkey is
4. so strange 2.2 works and 2.3 don't

Liberkey is an distrib of portable apps for USB key
I checked the version of HFS provided with LiberKey ... it's the build #260
