for those of you who like addresses like
http://user:pasword@server/ you may know, in 2004 microsoft decided to disable this feature in Internet Explorer.
I use Opera, so i never cared that much about it, so only today I saw an easy workaround
I'm posting here because this is a handy feature in HFS (
copy url with password).
MANUAL SOLUTIONedit your registry (start -> run -> regedit)
edit/create the following key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_HTTP_USERNAME_PASSWORD_DISABLEthen edit/create these values
"iexplore.exe"=dword:00000000
"explorer.exe"=dword:00000000
AUTOMATIC SOLUTIONrun the attached file.
i had to zip it because the forum doesn't accept this file format.
you can see yourself the file content, it is
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_HTTP_USERNAME_PASSWORD_DISABLE]
"iexplore.exe"=dword:00000000
"explorer.exe"=dword:00000000
that will just do the job for you.
