This Gallery provides a place where template makers can display their creations.
Normally, a download link to a zip file is also provided, perhaps with a note about how to use the template. (And/or a small text file inside the zip.)

Most of these examples can be downloaded from the forum. Forum versions may well be more up-to-date than the versions shown here. The site Template Repository also acts as an informal source for HFS templates.

Most of the pictures in this section have been made smaller, for easy visibility. In user's browsers, of course, they display at full size.

If you are not familiar with using HFS Templates, it is strongly recommended that you read the section "HTM Editor and Templates" in the section Refinements. This includes instructions about creating folders named C:/HFS and C:/HFS/Templates.

Example 01

This very simple template can be downloaded here. It is named "default-template+thumbnail-onlyforimages+googlesearch.tpl".

Error creating thumbnail: Unable to save thumbnail to destination

As you can see, it keeps the basic layout of the default template but adds a "Google Search" facility for the convenience of users to your site.

After you have downloaded the file, move it to the folder "Templates". Then perform the following steps to make the template work:

  1. In HFS, select "Edit HTML template" which opens the editor and automatically loads the current template (the default if you haven't made any changes).
  2. Click "Import" and, if necessary, navigate to C:\HFS\Templates. Select "default-template+thumbnail-onlyforimages+googlesearch.tpl" and click "Ok".
  3. When the new template is loaded into the editor, click "Apply", and then "Ok" (to dismiss the editor).
  4. In the HFS window, select root (/), right-click and then click "Browse it" to see the effect of your changes. Remember to refresh the browser cache ("F5" on most systems), if necessary.

Example 02

This template is named "KuleServer" and can be downloaded here. It is based on "HFS Live Power+ Edition" by Alvaro Quezada This version is very simple but does show effective use of icons, and a simple technique for using VFS.

After you have downloaded and unzipped the files, do the following to make everything work correctly:

  1. Place the files "Kule.org.uk HFS Template.tpl" and "favicon.icon" into the folder "HFS/Templates".
  2. Add the folder "img" (and its contents) to the folder "HFS".
  3. Add the folder "HFS/img" to the vfs. To do this, right-click in the HFS Virtual File System window and click "Add folder from disk" with "HFS/img" as the selected target.
  4. In HFS, select "Edit HTML template" and follow the usual process described above under Example 01.

When you've done the above, you'll have three files in your file structure. Use the HFS "Hide" facility to stop "img" from being displayed in user's browsers. You'll notice that "img" is then displayed in an italic font within the HFS Virtual File System window.

Example 03

This template is named "HFS-Clean-EN.tpl" and can be downloaded here. It is breathtakingly simple, and a very popular download.

Select ""HFS-Clean-EN.tpl"" and click "Ok".

Example 04

The HFS-Live templates was created in the early days HFS development. The end result is very similar to the "Kule.org.uk HFS Template" shown in example 2. It includes an invitation to download HFS, which you can obviously ignore! Note that you only have to download the file "live025a_en.rar" which is available here.

It comes complete with it's own installation facility. After you have unzipped the files and placed them in your "Templates" directory, simply double-click "setup.htm".

After a short delay, the following is displayed:

Error creating thumbnail: Unable to save thumbnail to destination

It is strongly recommended that you follow the onscreen instructions and determine which version you wish to install. Use the "Next" and "Previous" buttons to read about, and select, a version.

When you have decided which version is best-suited to your computer and Internet setup, close the window (click the "x" in the top right corner).

Now "Click here" in the HTTP File Server Live window (top left corner) "The setup should open a new window. If after 5 seconds nothing occur click here."
The following is displayed:

Error creating thumbnail: Unable to save thumbnail to destination

Click "Next" to skip this (assuming you already have HFS installed).
Follow the instructions in this screen:

Follow these steps: File:111.png

It is recommended that you perform these adjustments: File:112.png

This is the final screen. Click "Terminar" to complete the installation process. File:113.png

Example 05

This template very successfully mimics the layout of the official HFS site.

After you have downloaded and unzipped the files, move them all to the folder "Templates" (this includes the "img" folder). Then perform the following steps to make the template work:

  1. In HFS, select "Edit HTML template" which opens the editor and automatically loads the current template (the default if you haven't made any changes).
  2. Click "Import" and, if necessary, navigate to C:\HFS\Templates. Select "hfs-official site layout - template-02.tpl" and click "Ok".

This template offers a link to download the current version of HFS, and three extra tabs:

Register
When users click here, the following form is displayed. It allows you to easily control and administrate those users who you decide can access protected resources on your site.

This template is an entirely new template, remotely built off the black template (used only as a template to build it). All respects go to the creator of that template, also thanks to all my mates and all the good help on the forum to get this template done.

This template has a login system and no login system, you choose.

Simply go through the template, Looking for the **** SOMETHING **** and fill it in with your personal info.

For the Thumbnails to work a directory full of thumbnails with the same file names as the originals is needed and it is to be placed on the top level of the HFS virtual file system (/thumb), also place the mp3player.swf on this level aswell.

You should have no problems implementing this template.

Have Fun!!!

Template name by Flynsarmy.

Layout and Template by That Stevens Guy.

Tested and works in IE7, IE6, Firefox 1.5, Firefox 2.0, Opera 9.02.... Assuming it will work with all other browsers.
